About Touch Point Access
Built on lived experience, patience, and community-centered support.
Hi, I’m Sumaya, founder of Touch Point Access.
I lost my eyesight at the age of two due to leukemia. Throughout my life, I was fortunate to have incredible teachers and mentors who gave me an education and foundation that has stayed with me forever. Their patience, guidance, and belief in my abilities showed me that blindness should never be a barrier to independence, opportunity, or confidence.
Touch Point Access was created because I want to give back to my community in the same way others once supported me. I believe assistive technology should empower people, not overwhelm them. Everyone deserves the chance to use their devices and accessibility tools to their fullest potential, whether that means learning VoiceOver, setting up a new device, navigating everyday apps, or simply feeling more confident using technology.
What Touch Point Access stands for
Four values that shape every session, every workshop, and every conversation.
Patience
Sessions move at your pace. There are no stupid questions. We will repeat steps as many times as you need to feel confident.
Lived experience
I use the same assistive technology I teach. Every recommendation has been tested in my own daily life, not just on paper.
Accessibility
Every tool we use, every document we share, every meeting we run is designed to work with screen readers, magnifiers, and switch devices.
Community
Touch Point Access is built around the blind and low vision community. We share what we learn so that everyone benefits, not just one person.
As someone who uses assistive technology every day, I understand both the challenges and possibilities that come with it. Touch Point Access is built around patience, accessibility, lived experience, and community-centered support.
